"To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love." ~Pride and Prejudice

You are cordially invited to celebrate the works and legacy of Jane Austen.

Create your Regency-era title and name. Enjoy live music and learn Regency-era dances. Have tea and a bite, decorate a fan, enter the raffle to win prizes, choose your Darcy, and take home a commemorative dance card!

The Austen Ball honors Jane Austen’s 250th birthday and Saint Paul Public Library is excited to bring an evening of dancing and literary delight to the community!

Program:

5:30 – 6:00pm   welcome, create your Regency-era title and name, announcing of guests
6:00 – 7:00pm   George from Tapestry Folkdance will teach Country English Dance, dances that would have been known during the Regency Era
7:15pm   raffle drawing (must be present to win!)

Attendees are encouraged to dress up but welcome to “come as you are.” Those who wish to participate in dancing are encouraged to wear shoes that are not sneakers.

This is a free event. Registration is not required but encouraged. It would not do for the hosts to run out of refreshments before the evening is out!

*We love all the interest in this event! Guests wanting to participate in dancing will be first-come, first-serve until we reach capacity. There will be photo-ops, craft opportunities, and beverages/treats in other spaces*
