Feels very influential on P.T.A.'s far-superior "There Will Be Blood." Other than that, this film does make it clear why there were no Terence Malick films for a long time, until after the home video market was well-established and secure.

This is one of my favorite films of all time. The cinematography is gorgeous and film score hauntingly evocative. It's a beautifully unfolded love triangle tragedy. The big bonus is watching young Richard Gere & Sam Shepard in one of their…

A period social drama, presented with endless spectacular cinematography about the lives of migrant workers in a Panhandle farm during the early years of Woodrow Wilson's presidency (1913 to 1921). Like Badlands (1973,) this is also about…

Simplistic but engaging story of poverty and wealth---not to mention human nature. Malik productions are well made and moving. He and his crews work hard.

A RARE SORT OF FILM that actually seems to break a tiny bit of new ground in the art of filmmaking, Terence Malick’s 1978 depiction of a romantic triangle on an isolated Texas wheat farm shortly before America entered World War I tells its…

I hadn’t heard of this movie until 2020 when (like many other people) I found myself with a fair amount of time on my hands, and at one point started looking more into the work of Terrence Malick, initially inspired to do so by his great…

Malick's gift is in his luxurious cinematography that takes in details of the landscape. He zooms into faces of grasshoppers; zooms out to the golden fields and hills. Quite a treat. Casting is always the best ... mixing well knowns with…

A masterpiece. A timeless visual delight. I only wish I could have watched this on the big screen.

I'm happy when I take a single, good looking photo during the golden hour. I can't imagine what kind of planning went in to shooting an entire film in 20 minute-a-day increments but the results are beautiful.

Even with the very young, very handsome Richard Gere, this movie was slow and not of interest to me.

I'd been waiting for years to see this film and finally got around to it this afternoon. It did not disappoint even with my high expectations! I have seen other films by this director ~ making special note of Badlands and The Thin Red…

OK 1978 film with excellent filmography which engaged me fully - but the dramatic plot and character acting just didn't connect with me.

Slow paced and hard to sit through characterize this movie. Other than seeing Richard Gere and Sam Shepard early in their careers, this movie was a real snooze. Sissy Spacek was NOT in this movie as one of the reviewers stated. Bottom…

. The only words scarier than "You have cancer" are "Directed by Terrence Malick" . Thankfully, this doesn't have the pretentious narrations, fake poetry or visual non-sequiturs of Malick's later (terrible) films but it's still not…

It was okay. Gere and Shepard in their younger years. Slow moving though. I fast forwarded through some of it though because some parts were really slow.

This was a snore. Kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. Reminds me of Gere's movie Breathless which was another boring movie.

Set in 1916, the film follows two lovers (played by Richard Gere and Brooke Adams) who, posing as siblings, are hired on as seasonal workers in the Texas Panhandle. When they find out their wealthy boss, (Sam Shepard) is dying of an…

I am going to side with KCLS patron that found "Days of Heaven" the most poetic and beautiful movie they had ever seen. The movie has a young Richard Gere and a young Sam Shepard. Both actors play understated roles that make them all the…

A boring story. I checked this out to see Sam Shepard who died in 2017. Pointless story. Interesting vintage vehicles and airplanes.

Richard Gere and Sam Shepard in their youth. A visually stunning movie. I remember seeing this in the NAC when they used to show feature movies in the large hall with the big fabric curtain. Long time ago, but still a wonderful movie.

I've seen The Tree Life and To The Wonder - both of which I liked. then The New World and now Days of Heaven neither of which I liked as much as the later films. I thought the acting was stilted. there is one scene where Sam Shepard is…
