A very good book, with dark stories from the Holocaust. The mix of true and fictional stories would be my main point of contention. The stories of real people during this time are truly awful. I am not sure why we needed any fictional…

This is a story about the reality of our World. I believe we need to understand our history, despite the darkness in it. There is hope, endurance, determination, love, and light in hard times. These women and other characters in the novel,…

I think I was only into the 3rd chapter and had to bail. Such a disgusting scene. How do authors get this stuff published?

Until I found out that this was based on a true story, I would have only given it a 4. As a true story, it was definitely a 5-star story!

A great historical fiction debut. It’s a heavy, emotional read but it’s also a beautiful, redemptive story. This book features well-developed characters, atmospheric details, and a piece of history that people may not be aware of. This is…

This was debut novel by Martha Hall Kelly, and very well done. I enjoyed it from start to finish. It is based on the real life story of Caroline Ferriday, who was a Broadway actress, then became a liaison to the French consulate in New…

Dear or dear. This book should be a part of every school curriculum for younger generation to know and remember what fascism is about. Based on real people and facts, this book is mind blowing. I researched the characters further - all…

This was so good! I don't know why I waited so long to read it. I listened to the audiobook and it was easy to follow along even though it switched between 3 different women. I got to know the accents so I knew which woman's story I would…

I'm always hesitant to pick up novels that occur during the height of WW2, especially if it deals heavily with the Holocaust. With so much love for this book, I couldn't resist and I'm really glad I didn't. This was an amazing depiction of…

I agree that the first part of the book was disorienting, but in the end that was the best way to write this story. The atrocities appalled me, but the darkness was juxtaposed with the best of our nature. Thank goodness!

Found this book hard to get into, but eventually it was interesting. I was unaware of the horrors that occurred in Poland during WWII. My main criticism is that the author chose to include a fictional romance for one of the main…

This novel moved me to tears. Captured the story through the perspective of three characters. Tremendously well written and brought to light the terrible cruelties and heartbreaking stories of lives forever changed by the horrors of the…

This book was an amazing read and I did not want to put it down or let go of the story. Even did some lite research afterward about some of the real life characters. I also did not know anything about Ravensbruck, the experiments and the…

I found this book to be pretty engrossing. Prior to reading this, I had a vague knowledge of Ravensbrück, but this novel elaborated on what those poor women and children endured. Chilling and horrifying. I also appreciated the very…

I downloaded and listened to this book and fell in love with it. It reads a little slow, I’m guessing due to the slight accents of the European characters. I stuck with it and really enjoyed the story. There was a lot in the book that was…
