Karl (to the McCormick brothers): "A word to the wise from an old man before you go... Remember only this - The measure of a man is what's left when fame falls away... Oh, and another thing - get as much sex as you can!"

Danny Machin: "What if I call in the debt?" Neil McCormick: "I can't pay, sir." Danny Machin: "So what." Neil McCormick: "So I suppose you would have to kill me." Danny Machin (laughs): "For Crissake, I'm not an Italian! I'm not goin' to kill ya... yet..."

An unknown critic (to me) is quoted on the dvd cover as saying this movie is a so-called "great rock & roll comedy" that "U2 fans will love". 1.) I do enjoy some of U2's early music. 2.) U2 & Bono have very little to do with this movie, aside from the lead character's all-consuming jealousy and envy of them (& him) since they were all young schoolmates in Dublin. 3.) The "great rock & roll" was not great. 4.) Ditto on the "comedy". 5.) I did not love this movie (I bet you already guessed that). Thin, weak: humor; dialogue; story; etc. Gratuitous "T" & "A". The late Pete Postlethwaite's (Inception, The Town, The Shipping News, etc.) final role as a flamboyant homosexual landlord was... um... mildly bizarre. I guess I expected more from this one.
