Such cherished memories of this series. My favorite Muppet was probably the manic and lovable Grover, though I was also quite fond of Kermit the Frog and the by now iconic Bert and Ernie.

The little kids were adorable in their unscripted and unpredictable interactions with the Muppets, and the clever songs, comedy send-ups (Grover as the cheerfully inept waiter serving the long-suffering Mr. Blue; Super Grover wreaking havoc in his disastrous attempts to save the world; the hilarious fairy tale take-offs that usually comprised Kermit's Sesame Street News reports, etc), short films (especially those featuring kids' voice-over commentaries), and imaginative animated inserts all combined to make this one of my all-time favorite TV shows.
It still is.
