So a few things to point about this third entry in the long-running "Halloween" franchise: 1. Michael Meyers is not in this one. 2. None of the original cast is in this one. 3. Original director John Carpenter produced and co-composed the score, but did not direct. All that to say, it can't really be compared to the rest in the series, especially the iconic and influential first film. Carpenter apparently wanted to make it more like an anthology series, with different stories with each new film, but this didn't do very well so they brought Michael Meyers back for the next film. The plot, involving Stonehenge, robots, evil masks, witchcraft, is wacky and will either annoy you or delight you, depending on your taste. Fans of 80s horror will recognize Tom Atkins from "Creepshow," "Maniac Cop," and "Night of the Creeps." Not great, but better than its reputation suggests. If the curfew/operator voice sounds familiar, it's because it's Jamie Lee Curtis.
