I like this book, and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures.

So I saw Wish Girl in the library. I know, I know, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but how many of us actually follow that rule? So I took this off the shelve because it had a cool cover. I barely even read what it was about, because on the inside flap it said, "Annie Blythe". I was flabbergasted! Because let me explain something to you. I love to write, and I absolutely LOVE to read. Some of my favorites (I'm just reciting them off the top of my head, I have many more), that I am a die-hard fan and expert of, are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, The Giver, The Outsiders, and... the entire Anne of Green Gables series.
So I saw the name of Annie Blythe, and I was like "oooh, for sure there is some connection to Anne of Green Gables!" And I'm a bit confused, to be honest. I finished the book. It was decent, nothing special, but I could't tell if Nikki Loftin was connecting it to AoGG on purpose or not, because there are some subtle hints but she doesn't actually mention anything straight out. And the plot doesn't really have anything to do with Anne Shirley.

1. Her hair is dyed. Her hair is red. Anne Shirley dies her hair. Her hair is naturally auburn, though.

2. She names a lake, because "'It makes it more real.'" Anne Shirley, in the first book, names Barry's Pond as "The Lake of Shining Waters."

3. Her name is Annie Blythe.
So specifically here I was a bit stumped, because Anne is so so so clear about hating the name Ann or Annie. So if you were trying to connect Wish Girl to AoGG, why would you name her Annie? But then her last name is Blythe. And here my doubts ended, because, GILBERT BLYTHE.
SPOILER FOR AOGG!!!: MRS. DOCTOR BLYTHE!! After Anne marries Gilbert Blythe (=happiness) she becomes Anne Blythe.

Soooooooo, what was the deal here? I emailed Nikki Lofitin and she claims it was entirely coincidence. She says that she didn't even read Anne of Green Gables for years after her book was published.
