The journey of a mixed race teen searching for her mother and meeting helpers along the way. Set in small town Ontario, it was very good for teen or adult.
A story of courage and friendship.

I really enjoyed this story. It's about Malou, a 16 year old, mixed race girl who had grown up in an orphanage her whole life, with a close bond to the other orphans that is shattered the day the orphanage burns down. It's the 1960s in Canada, and there is nowhere for her to go, so she is sent out into the world with only a few clues to follow to find out where she really came from. Out in the world is the first time she'd ever seen brown faces like her own, and as she unravels secrets about her past, she discovers the world is so much bigger and stranger than she ever imagined.
