This is a beautiful short story compilation. Each of the characters is unique and wholly human. They make mistakes, they do things to hurt each other, they feel deeply and passionately. At the end of each short story, I hoped that their stories would continue, but that's the beauty of Tsabari's writing - she leaves the reader wanting more. Most importantly of all, Tsabari shows the diversity that is Israel: being pro- or anti-war, religious or not, feeling connected to the land or wanting to flee. This character-driven, deeply emotional story is a great fit for those who are interested in disappearing into the inner lives of others.
