Whetstone had James Blake's second book, "Ways of Grace," on display. I read it because I have followed tennis and know of James Blake. His stories of "activism, adversity, and how sports can bring us together" are quite timely for our country. An unexpected and unfortunate encounter in New York led Blake to do some serious thinking about how he could utilize his position in the sports and broadcast world to encourage the discussion of big issues, with the hope of greater cooperation among disparate groups of citizens. He joins a long list of sports figures who have made a difference by rising above adversity as a way to bring about change.
