Of all the stories to define the shadows of the moon, I think this rendition of the legend of Chang'e and her husband, the famed archer Hou Yi, is easily my favorite. Simplistic but colorful and adorable illustrations tell this layered story of a girl's grandmother teacher her of the origin of mooncakes and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
