I've been very critical of Patterson and most of his collaborators recently, believing he has over-exposed himself and the writing has suffered. I still tend to believe that. However, if those awful collaborations are the cost of him finally concentrating on his own writing as evidenced in 'Target', I'm OK with that.

'Target' is a fast-paced, old fashioned mystery of gigantic proportions and moving parts. Alex Cross was used for his investigative abilities and less for his psychological abilities. The story is riveting, however I felt the ending was rushed and pretty much out of nowhere. Oh well, still a great story. I do feel the purposeful, excruciatingly too obvious, leave you hanging ending was a cheap way to do it, especially after the clues were so well disguised within the story.

How Patterson managed to write out John Sampson, I'll never know, but get it together James. He was missed and not replaceable with Mahoney.

So good. It is a page turner. True Patterson. This is the excitement I was looking for in The President is missing. I didn't finish that book as it was very boring. Can't wait to read what The Chef has to offer.

James Patterson never fails to come up with a great book. So I was not surprised that this book was good too. However in this, Alex Cross is a larger than life leading man as Washington D.C is stunned by a spate of assassinations. Capturing the ruthless assassin or assassins becomes a mammoth task and I kept turning pages till I could start breathing again! The ending was rather strange.

I returned the book after reading the first 100 pages. I am just not into really descriptive details of killing people.
