This was so beautifully written it felt like I was reading poetry. You get so attached to the two main characters because they have gone through so much and seen horrible things that no one should ever have to see. Their character development and the development of their relationship took a while but in the end it was worth it. One thing I loved was the minor characters like Marshall, Glory, and Pastor Hughes. I did not even notice until halfway into the book that they were there to help Jesse and Scarlett move forward and I loved them for that. This is the first book I have read by Katie McGarry and I look forward to reading more of her work.
