"Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. Unable to discard his humanity but equally unable to suppress his Ghoul hunger, Ken finds salvation in the kindness of friendly Ghouls who teach him how to pass as human and eat flesh humanely. But recent upheavals in Ghoul society attract the police like wolves to prey, and they don't discriminate between conscientious and ravenous Ghouls." -- Provided by publisher.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the series. I've watched the actual anime and that was quite nice aswell, hope more Tokyo Ghoul books come out soon in this library!

The second book in the series shows Ken adjusting into his life and the dangers that ghouls have to face especially from 'Ghoul Investigators' who do anything to slaughter ghouls. He needs to learn how to get food for himself in a more ethical fashion. He also finds out about ghouls like him who feel bad about treating humans like livestock. My favorite part is how the creator addresses the fact that there really isn't a good or bad side, the investigators are trying to protect innocent people while ghouls are just trying to get by.
