September 15 2017 This is a book that will grab your attention from page one. It's a riveting story. Two American couples and their children go on a tropical vacation. What is supposed to be a fun adventure turns into an unbelievable nightmare. The author describes the events in chapters alternating between the parents' viewpoints and the children's viewpoints. The suspense builds. But, according to the author's liberal political perspective, it is the Americans who are to blame. They are rich, privileged and self-absorbed. The drug lords who kill and victimize their countrymen are not to blame. As Ms. Meloy sees it, it is the transgressions of the American people that are more at fault. Too bad she politicized a good thriller. NC
