There is so much going on in this book, all at once. The invisible boy. Uncle Paton's trip. Skarpo the sorcerer. Charlie's grandmother and great aunts. Belle who is actually someone else. Honestly, I think the author had Grandma Maisie and Charlie's friend Benjamin go on trips just so she'd have fewer characters to deal with. The writing does seem to be improving, but the plotting is still rather weak, and the dialog is sometimes not really believable. As a whole, the book has a somewhat childish feel.
