I enjoyed this book a lot. The cover makes it seem like a vacation on the beach but that is not what it is at all. The book is heavy with sadness, friendships broken, secrets kept, murder covered up and lots of mysteries waiting to be uncovered. Josephine Bettendorf Warrick is 99-years-old and dying of cancer. She lives on Talisa Island and wants to make sure the state doesn't take the island and change it into a park. She wants to keep it private. She hires Brooke Trappnell to track down her three friends from the 1940's who she needs to make amends to. Whether you like Mary Kay Andrews' other books that are more light hearted, give this one a try anyway. It's well written, the characters are well developed and there is a lot going on. I listened to the book and I kept thinking I would stop listening and leave the rest for in the car and I had to know what was happening next. I couldn't stop listening. Some of the things I guessed at and some of the things I was surprised. I found it a very entertaining and enjoyable book.
