Perhaps this film was edgy for a British release in 1945? Margaret Lockwood is indeed wicked, she steals her best friend's fiance, marries rich, becomes a thief, adulteress and finally, a murderess. Still, it's not quite camp, but it's to literal to be much fun either. It's a harmless piece of fluff but not up to the standard of the time in which Hollywood led the way. Just the hair alone pales in comparison. Miss Lockwood unfortunately has to endure a hairpiece that resembles a fat beaver pinned to the back of her head. It's interesting though to see James Mason in an early role.
